I have an R210 II server with an iDRAC 6 card installed. We were having some problems with it so we attempted to update the firmware using the linux package available from the Dell downloads page. After several minutes the installer said the operation timed out and stopped the procedure. We attempted to start it again with no luck and rebooted the server. Now the server won't start up. The fans are spinning at 100%, the iDRAC console is unreachable, and there is no video output coming from the VGA port.
We have tried physically removing the iDRAC card, replacing the iDRAC card with one that is known to be working, resetting the system bios using the on board jumper, and reinstalling the original iDRAC card. None of these has caused any improvement or change.
Unfortunately this server was purchased refurbished and we do not known the original companies information so Dell support won't help us.
