PE R410 16 GB memory upgrade - running out of ideas

I just bought 4x 16 GB DDR3L 1333 PC3-10600R ECC Registered CL9 modules for my R410, but the server won't boot with the new memory installed. The screen is completely black. I see no signs of life.

CPU: 2x Xeon L5640
MB P/N: 01012MT00-000-G
BIOS: 1.12.0

This PDF from Dell suggests that 16 GB modules at 1333 MHz are in fact supported and the bank should be populated in the following order: 1, 2, 3, 4.

"PowerEdge R410, T410, and R510 systems support 16 GB dual-rank, low voltage registered DIMMs (RDIMMs) at 1333 MHz."

So...

  • I've tried using only one CPU and populating A1 and also A1, A2, A3.
  • I've tried using both CPU's and populating A1, A2, B1, B2.
  • I've tried using only one CPU and one DIMM at a time.
  • I've tried resetting the CMOS.
  • I've tested the RAM in my DL320 G6 - didn't work
  • UID light is flashing orange when a 16 GB module is in the system

I even tried with a known-good 4 GB in A1 and the 16 GB in B1. The system booted, but obviously disabled the DIMM.

When booting the system with 1x CPU and 1x 4 GB 1Rx4 PC3L-10600R module, this is what the BIOS looks like:

Also, worth mentioning is that the memory I got doesn't look like the one listed on eBay.

Would be great if someone had a clue about what's going on or perhaps I should return the RAM to the seller...
