Hey all, can anyone confirm if the later H700 firmware revisions have reverted to blocking non-Dell drives? I know back in 2010 there was a big stink about the H700 blocking 3rd party drives, then firmware A02 came out and removed the block.
Today we inherited an R510 from a company we bought and it has a configuration of up to date firmware on a Perc 6/i with four WD WD2003FZEX desktop 2TB drives. Less than an ideal situation but is what it is. I had a retired R710 sitting around with more memory and redundant power, so I decided to move the drives and import the foreign config.
No foreign config found, and on the physical drive page, it lists the drives as in a "BLOCKED" state. It reflects their model, bus speed, etc. just fine, so as best I can tell, this is going back to the original H700 issue of Dell intentionally blocking third party drives. I did try to downgrade them to 3 Gb/sec, no change.
The H700 is up to date, A10 firmware. I tried downgrading it to A09 and A08, the oldest I could find on the Dell site, no change. Is a copy of A02 for linux lying around anywhere; assuming it would help?
