C6100 server BSOD

I'm trying to track down why this server is experiencing blue screens.

I see the following errors in the event log:

Error Event ID 6008 "The previous system shutdown at 4:21:28 AM on 6/9/2015 was unexpected."

Critical Event ID 41 "The system has rebooted without cleanly shutting down first. This error could be caused if the system stopped responding, crashed, or lost power unexpectedly."

Error Event ID 1001 "The computer has rebooted from a bugcheck.  The bugcheck was: 0x00000124 (0x0000000000000000, 0xfffffa800a62e038, 0x0000000000000000, 0x0000000000000000). A dump was saved in: C:\Windows\Minidump\060915-24913-01.dmp. Report Id: 060915-24913-01."

Error Event ID 1500 "The SNMP Service encountered an error while accessing the registry key SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Services\SNMP\Parameters\TrapConfiguration."

Error Event ID 7026

"The following boot-start or system-start driver(s) failed to load:

ClusDisk"

Error Event ID 18

"A fatal hardware error has occurred.

Reported by component: Processor Core

Error Source: Machine Check Exception

Error Type: Internal Timer Error

Processor ID: 0

The details view of this entry contains further information."

If it helps, here's a couple of links to the dump files generated after the BSOD:

Here is a link to the dump file: https://onedrive.live.com/redir?resid=A4C0CA009AA14F65!109&authkey=!AImteEv0JAXxu_k&ithint=f...

Here's another dump file from when the BSOD occurred again 5 days later: https://onedrive.live.com/redir?resid=A4C0CA009AA14F65!110&authkey=!AP1c-iA94vV-i0k&ithint=f...

I've checked the web based "megarac" software to look for any error logs or any information on issues with voltages, temperatures or fan speeds and everything appears to be within normal levels, no BMC errors.

MegaRAID storage manager shows an optimal array.

I don't currently have a good monitoring solution for RAM, PSUs or CPUs. Still looking for one.

Can anyone here help point me in the right direction to figure out what's going on?

Do not work the USB ports on the T310

Hello Dell!
I am a frequent visitor to you with questions.

There is a server T310, service tag [ADMIN NOTE: Service Tag removed per privacy policy]. He did not have a working USB port. Not from the front, not from on the opposite side.
We tried six different operating keyboards, and none has been in the server. NVRAM CLR done, the result is not given. Internal USB module used, the result is the same.
At the start of writing keyboard failure.
How to solve this problem?

Noise levels on T430 and T630?

Looking to upgrade a T310 to either a T430 or T630. Between the T430 and T630, which has the lowest noise level? Or are they about the same? I can only imagine something newer is going to be quieter at idle than the T31.

T310 currently has 2x power supplies and 4x3.5" drives. T430 or T630 would have 2x power supplies and 5x2.5" drives.

I can't find any dB ratings. Maybe someone has them somewhere? Thanks!

Poweredge T310 will not start from standby

My Poweredge T310 will not cold start. When you push the power button the drive lights flash briefly.  I have had it start a couple of times after disconnecting the power to the PSU's for a few minutes, but it seems to be random.  The LCD display says "No POST code".

PSU status lights are green.

The BMC responds to a ping, but it has not been set up, so I don't think I can use that.

Any suggestions would be most appreciated

Does anybody have a download link for a version of Open Manage that will work on a PowerEdge 1600SC running Windows 2003 32 bit? Currently installed is Dell Open Manage Array Manager 3.6.0 (build 568.5). I need to check CPU temp, volts & fans - that sort of thing.

R410 - Trying to upgrade H200 to H700

$

Hi All,

We have a few of these R410 servers, all of which have H700 controllers, but one has a H200 and suffers with disk speed issues, so we want to upgrade to the H700.

The server has 4 SATA disks in it. Two are configured as Raid 1 with the OS on it.

The other two disks do not have hardware RAID enabled.

We have bought a H700, and tried to upgrade.
We installed the card, imported the foreign configuration, which all worked fine.
The issue is that Windows will not boot, and keeps giving BSOD.

A guess would be that the drivers for the H700 are not installed.
We can't have the two controllers in the server at the same time as there is only one PERC slot.

I also just saw one random post online which says you can't upgrade to a H700 if the disk is a boot drive, but that doesn't make much sense. Surely once the system and OS sees a disk it doesn't matter if it's bootable?

Anyway, any help would be appreciated.

Thanks

Replacing an H700 card in a C2100? Receiving error 'incorrect enclosure'

I had an H700 card go bad, got another, popped it in the server and upon boot when the RAID card loads it's bios it gives an error that 'Unable to boot. Incorrect enclosure. Does not support full buss master capability'.

Does anyone know if this would be a motherboard problem/incompatability or possibly the drive backplane needs set differently? Possibly a dip header needs changed?

Thanks!

PowerEdge C6220 automatic S5/G2: soft-off for a whole rack of nodes

$

I have a rack of 5 C6220 nodes which for the last couple of weeks have all been turning off for no apparent reason. The BMC logs are not very descriptive as the S5/G2 message is the only message that appears in the logs (see http://imgur.com/Pts25qF

This used to happen once in a while (maybe once every 2-3 weeks) for one machine and for that time being I ignored it. However for the last couple of weeks this happens everyday. The machines don't respond to IMPI commands after dying. I have to manually go in the data center, unplug the two power supplies and plug them back in order to be able to boot the machines.

I found another thread that seems to have the exact same symptoms as me but there is no response (see http://lists.us.dell.com/pipermail/poweredgec-tools/2014-November/000302.html

1.0.21. I tried to grab the lastest BIOS from Dell (BIOS_YR4WF_LN_2.5.3.BIN) but unfortunately when I run the binary I get the following error:

> BIOS Update failed using Dell RBU method.

However, I am quite skeptical this is BIOS issue as these machines never used to have this problem before. I've been running out of ideas and would appreciate any help I could get.

SUU multiple ISO download - how to combine?

$

I am downloading the Dell Server Update Utility ISO from the Dell support site, and the ISO image is split up into four ISO files. How do I combine these to burn them to a DVD?

DVD ISO Image 1
File Name:OM_SUU_653_A00_FILE1.iso
DVD ISO Image 2
File Name:OM_SUU_653_A00_FILE2.iso
DVD ISO Image 3
File Name:OM_SUU_653_A00_FILE3.iso
DVD ISO Image 4
File Name:OM_SUU_653_A00_FILE4.iso
Each file is exactly 1464MB. I'm afraid that means the total is larger than a single DVD will hold. Do I need to burn four separate DVDs, and will the first DVD autorun or boot and then ask me to shuffle the remaining 3 discs?
Much to my surprise the included Plain-Text File Name:om653_SUU_a00_readme.txt did not explain!!
(And yes, I know this is not the current SUU; unfortunately I'm dealing with old hardware running old Windows 2003 still in production).

PowerEdge 840 Tower Server, Perc 5/I Shows Non-Critical error on battery

In Open Manage the PERC 5/i Adapter show a yellow triangle with an exclamation  mark in it  It says NON-CRITICAL on the battery.  The battery status shows the following:

Battery on Controller PERC 5/i Adapter

Properties

Name Battery 0
State Learning
Predicted Capacity Status Unknown
Learn State Active
Next Learn Time 79 days 5 hours
Maximum Learn Delay 7 days 0 hours
Battery Tasks No Task Available

Earlier this AM it showed up to date (I started another cycle) but the Triangle was still there.  Is this cause for concern?  Also, after the learning cycle, when everything shows its OK (like earlier) do I need to reboot the server for this to correct itself?

Please explain what I am seeing, why I am seeing it and how do I resolve it?

Dell R510 12 Bay SAS Backplane - SAS/Sata limited by backplane or controller?

$

Hi,

Question as per title really.  I'm interested to know if the SAS backplane in the 12 bay R510s is limited to 6G SAS / 3G SATA due to the expander or the default controllers that ship with it?  I'm looking at one for a storage server but would utilise a LSI 9211-8i in IT mode that supports 6G SAS/SATA it would be good to get 6G SATA speeds if possible.

Is that possible, or am I limited by the backplane expander itself?

Thanks,

Chris

Hi all,

We have a problem with a Dell PowerEdge M620. It's freezing in : "Initializing firmware interfaces". Also when the servers is during POST it boots from LCC (When the Dell logo appears) and doesn't allow to enter in BIOS setup or PXE boot.

We tried:

-Running the LCC patch (lifecycle controller repair package) that can be found on Dells website, but still we have the same problem.

Did anyone had a similar problem and how it can be fixed ?

Thnx

Replacing H710P RAID Controller

Hi,

I have a H710p controller in a 10 disk PowerEdge R720 server. The current controller suffers from an intermittent battery failure (happens about 1-2 times a year, the logs display a PERC battery failure and then the controller resolves to the normal state after 1 minute.

I'm told that the controller and battery must both be replaced. I have instructions from Dell on how to replace the physical controller, but what I'm not sure about is the exact steps to ensure that my RAID and disk setup remains intact after the upgrade process. Please can someone advise? I just need to make sure all the virtual disks and drive configurations remain in place after the upgrade.

Thanks

The machine is very slow at this moment and it was restarted for times already. I do not have access on the server to check the BIOS for CPU throttling. I can login only remote.

Any ideas?

Hi Guys,

Is there any simple way to find out basic information about Dell IDRAC via their URL(IDRAC URL) itself. I am mainly after firmware detials of IDRAC. I dont want to authenticate each and every ILO and pull information by RACADM.

Like in case of HP ILO we can query xmldata and fetch the information: example:

http://$($iLO_IP)/xmldata?item=ALL

Similarly I am looking to query Dell IDRAC's and find out information without authenticating.

I have more than 2k odd Dell servers :)

Appreciate if anybody can help.
