How to "safely remove" a RAID 0 disk from PERC 6/i ???

Hello!

I moving to a PowerEdge R710 with PERC 6/i controller running Windows Server 2012 R2.  I am new to Dell servers and am having some difficulty accomplishing the following.    The old server had a Promise FastTrak controller that had JBOD mode.  For backups, we just used several SATA disks set up as JBOD and rotated them for offsite storage.  We used a utility called HotSwap which facilitated "safely removing" the JBOD disk.  No problems.

The PERC 6/i does not have JBOD mode.  I can set up the backup disk as RAID 0, but how does one "safely remove" the RAID 0 disk?  I disabled the RAID 0 disk in the Windows device manager and physically pulled it, but when I put a new physical disk in, Dell OpenManage Server Administrator will not make a new virtual disk unless I erase the cache, for which I am not sure what the ramification is.  If I insert the first RAID 0 disk back in, it is treated as a foreign disk, but I can import it and it works fine.

I've looked through the options in Dell OpenManage Server Administrator (v 8.2), but I don't really see anything like a "safely remove" for the virtual RAID 0 disk.  There is "Delete...", but that gives a warning that all data will be lost.

Is there a way to "safely remove" a RAID 0 disk to shut it down properly and eliminate the cache warning?

Thanks for any help, and apologies if I have missed something obvious.
