Good afternoon, folks. We've got a legacy system that's been giving us trouble today, and I'd like to get a second opinion on the matter. We have a PE 2850 that refuses to boot. It'll go through all the BIOS checks and then stop without error.
I suspect the problem is with our PERC 4e/Di. After it initializes the SCSI controller and scans devices, it shows 2 Logical Drives and 0 Physical Drives found/handled by host adapter. (There are two logical drives -- two physical disks in RAID 1 to boot from and another array, possibly RAID 5?) If I go into the PERC/CERC BIOS Conf Utility, sometimes I'm able to navigate the menu to View/Add Configuration before the menu freezes. Sometimes it freezes at 'Spinning up Device at Channel-0 Target-05'. Sometimes it freezes immediately and I'm unable to navigate the menu at all. But I'm unable to view the configuration or make any real changes that won't delete my disk configuration.
I don't know how to proceed from here or what further troubleshooting I'm able to do to narrow down the issue. Does anyone have any advice for troubleshooting this issue? I'm happy to provide whatever information more that I can, but I'm hindered by the lack of a DRAC on this server.
