We need to update the firmware of the H700 mini RAID controller firmware in a R710. We encountered the issue discussed in en.community.dell.com/.../19475476
We followed the steps above and updated both the iDRAC6 Enterprise to 1.99 (Build 06) and LifeCycle Controller to 1.7.5. However, the frontpage of the iDRAC6 shown the Power Supplies status from green tick to yellow exclamation mark!
We click on the Power Supplies link and the page showing the Power Supplies status, under "Individual Power Supply Elements" that the PS1 has green tick in the Status. There is only 1 power supply for this server. More info as below (there is a green tick in the Status field in the webpage).
Status | Location | Type | Input Wattage | Max Wattage | Online Status | FW Version
![]() | PS 1 | AC | 1080 | 870 | Present | 08.13.00 | ![]()
My colleague told me that a field engineer visited about a year ago when he fixed another R710 in our office, told us that it is a known issue for the new (at that time) iDRAC6 version. So he downgraded the iDRAC6 back to 1.80 (Build 17) and LifeCycle Controller back to 1.5.1.57 after replaced the failed hardware and updated all firmware & BIOS to current (at that time also).
Meanwhile, we suspect it was the firmware of the Power Supply and looking for any update. However, we can't even locate the 870W power supply in the driver download page, which shown only "Coldwatt 570W PSU (PN: VPR1M) Fimrware Package". The 870W power supply was ordered along with the new R710 from a local Dell reseller in Hong Kong and that should be authentic.
The system actually run fine but with that yellow exclamation mark is misunderstanding and causing false alarm to us. Is anyone know how to resolve that? Notice the R710 was out of warranty and I bet the phone support staff won't give us a hand.
Hallo,
I have running a Windows Server 2016 HyperV instance on a PowerEdge R710 server.
There are 2 VMs running on that HyperV, both also Windows Server 2016 Standard. One of these VMs is a DC. The HyperV is not in that domain, but in the same network
I had installed OpenManage Server Administrator on the HyperV for a while now.
Today I noticed, that I cannot achieve any Information via OMSA. The service is reachable via browser, but I cannot see any information about the hardware, e.g. Storage Controller, RAIDs, ...
Then, I started searching and saw the following logs (sorry logs are in German):

Obviously the DataService (sorry I do not have the exact service name) could not be started.
I already removed OMSA with the setup-enclosed tool. Besides, I have updated to the latest version 8.5 A00 (OM-DRAC-Dell-Web-WINX64-8.5.0-2372_A00). But the error is unfortunately the same.
During the installation (prerequisites check) of the new OSMA version I get the following warning
The installer has detected that the HTTPS listener is not configured for Windows Remote Management. You can either configure the HTTPS listener before installing Remote Enablement, or install Remote Enablement now by selecting the "Custom" installation screen and configure the HTTPS listener later. See the "Remote Enablement Requirements" section in the Server Administrator Installation Guide for information on configuring the HTTPS listener. Note: Remote Enablement is required to manage this system from a remote Server Administrator Web Server and is applicable only for those systems that support Server Instrumentation. Click here to configure HTTPS Listener for Windows Remote Management.
I clicked on the link at the end in order to fix that problem, but it does not help. I have assured, that the Remote Management is activated on the HyperV - anyway, the message still pops up.
Does anyone have an idea, what's causing this problem?
thanks in advance.
Win2k12 R2 is not listed in supported OS list (OS Driver pack 6.4.0.17). I created SUU with Dell Repository Manager 2.0.0.187 to install latest Driver Pack.
I get "catlog file not found" errors when i try to upgrade OS Pack. Please help.
Hi,
I have a R910 with 2 x7560 cpus and i want to add 32 16gb dimms - MGY5T, however the server doesn't see the ram, is this a compatibility issue with the CPU?
or will this require the v2 memory risers?
thanks
Hey there guys! I am seeking help with an Idrac6 question that I have been struggling with. So I run a small hosting company and I have bunch of dell R210 and 210ii servers with Idrac6 enterprise and express modules. I have built a custom dedicated control panel that uses racadm to control the power of each server and mount ISO images so far. I am trying to figure out a way to allow users to from their control panel, simply click a button that says kvm and it will download the file and allow them to connect. I know that I will have to instruct them to rename the file and remove everything after jlnp but the issue is the authentication seems randomly generated every time. If anyone knows how to do something like this using racadm or any other method please let me know! Thanks.
has anyone tried to upgrade their power supplies from 120V 1600W to 2000W in order to have full redundancy? we tried upgrading to 2000W but the server won't boot when configured with grid redundancy.
We wanted to understand if iDRAC could trigger an event when a new node is plugged in and powered on, so that we can execute our business flow when that event is triggered.
If at all events are not triggered, then can you please let us know any other mechanism by which we can identify that a new node has been added and get the information about that node through iDRAC?
Hi,
I've R720 fully populated with 24x16 GB dual-rank RDIMMs = they have 384 GB total.
I'd like to upgrade them to 512 GB, but apparently if quad-rank DIMM is installed, the last bank in channel has to remain empty.
Is that correct?
If yes, is it possible to have one channel per CPU populated with 2x32 GB DIMMs and all remaining channels populated with 16 GB ones?
Or all 4 channel need to have exactly the same DIMM layout?
Hello,
I'm in the process of getting new sticks of memory for my Server PowerEdge 1800, I asked a friend of mine and he said that according to the manual you can only get a 2GB modules and the maximum capacity for the server is 12GB total.
My question is, can I get a stick of 4GB instead of 2*2GB?
Can I get this part number X1564 (Dell 4 GB DDR2 SDRAM 400 MHz (PC2-3200))?
Regards,
Sameh
Hi,
I have a Dell PowerEdge T320 server with 8GB RAM, and acquired recently another 8GB, but the server is not accepting the new memory. I've tried connecting it in different slot combinations, with no success. Any suggestions?
The original memory is a Kingston KTD-PE316S8/4G (Reg.ECC, DDR3, 1066MHz, 1Rx8). The new memory is a Transcend TS512MKR72V6NL (Reg.ECC, DDR3, 1600MHz, 2Rx8)
If I only install the old memory or only the new one, they work fine, indicating 8GB, so they are all working. If I put them all together, the BIOS indicates a write error on the higher numbered channels, and recognizes only 8GB. Could someone help me understand what is happening?
Thanks,
Roberto
I'm interested in deploying new 14G Poweredge servers using the zero conf DHCP iDRAC9 option. Usually our Datacenter techs configure iDRAC IP addresses manually via a console or KVM.
I believe I must purchase new servers with the 'zero conf DHCP' iDRAC Enterprise option. I want DHCP to assign specific IP addresses to each iDRAC. How do I obtain the iDRAC Mac address in advance? It is included on the packing slip that ships with each server? Can I obtain it from a Dell database?

Hi I currently have a PowerEdge 720 with an H710P mini PERC and 6 x 3.5" SAS drives.
I'd like to replace these with off-the-shelf SATA SSDs. Is this possible?
Hello everyone.
Voila, I recently made an update of the IDRAC6 of my R710 and I noticed that the left LED was amber. (I thought she was green ...?).
Is this normal?
thank you to enlighten me on this question.
Thx in advance;)
Perc 710hp raid controller.
I recently replaced 2 failed drives (slot 0 and slot 4) when I press cntrl + R and go into the raid controller configuration page it does not show the 2 new drives I installed. I also noticed that the drive lights are not on.
Suggestions any one?
Thanks,
R
I've tried 2 different sets of CPU's and gotten the same error. I returned the first set, but when the second set gave the exact same errors, I thought there might be an issue with the server, not the CPU's.
These are the errors it gives, in this order. Pull from idrac log.
CPU 1 VCORE PG voltage is outside of range.
CPU 2 VCORE PG voltage is outside of range.
CPU 2 VCORE PG voltage is outside of range. (occurs a few seconds after the first 2 errors)
CPU 2 VCORE PG voltage is outside of range.
and finally:
The system board fail-safe voltage is outside of range.
Nothing ever shows on the screen, all firmware is up to date, including the bios (2.5.4).
This server works perfect fine with my current dual E5-2660 v1 cpu's. Dell's documentation says these v2 cpu's are supported, so what gives? Bad motherboard? i'm running the largest dual 1100W power supplies, so it shouldn't be an issue of not enough power. I'm out of warranty, otherwise I'd have dell diagnose. I can buy a new Motherboard for $130, but wanted to try and see if anyone knew with confidence why this doesn't work.
Thanks in advance.
BIOS Version 2.5.4
Firmware Version 2.50.50.50
