C1100 will not power on

Hi all,

I have a C1100 which has been running for a few years now without any problems. Suddenly the server lost power and will no longer boot up. I replaced the power supply thinking that it might have failed. I now have tried 3 different power supplies and the server will not startup. I replaced the motherboard as well thinking maybe something was wrong with the power on the motherboard. This too has not changed the state of the server. It will not startup, there is no fan movement at all in the power supply or the fan assembly. There are no lights or indicators lit anywhere. I am not sure what else I can do. I cannot figure out why there are no lights or fans anywhere when i plug it in. Ive tried several power cords and power sockets in the house as well.

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Add drive to PERC6/6i virtual disk

I have a server with a PERC6i controller.  There are 8 bays in the server.  Five of these bays have 450GB drives and 1 large RAID-5 virtual disk has been created.  The 450GB drives currently installed are no longer available.  If I were to purchase a 600GB, can I simply put it in one of the empty bays and expand the virtual disk?  Or, do I have to backup, add the drive, recreate the array and restore?  Also, if I can expand, what will be my gain - 450GB?

Cable for T320 8x3.5 to Perc H710

I have a T320 with the 8x3.5 hot-swappable backplane for SAS drives. I ordered a Perc H710 (p/n 342-4203) to replace the H310. The existing SAS cable has the wrong connectors for the H710.

I chatted with Dell this morning and they told me that I needed Dell Part# cy7n1. I ordered this. However, after ordering I searched online and the pictures seem to show a cable with only a single connector at each end.

What is the correct cable that I need?

Thanks.

Fiber card not showing in firmware Inventory

I have two M620 blades in a 1000e chassis that has QLogic fiber cards that show up in the hardware inventory, but not the firmware inventory.  I have eight other blades in that chassis that they show up in both.  All the blades have the same version of iDRAC, and I have CSIOR enabled on all the blades.  Does anyone know how I can get the fiber cards to show up in the firmware inventory so that I can update those?

CMC web interface access lost, requires RACRESET, inconsistent, but recurring

Under the CMC 4.5, we were able to reliably access CMC via the web interface for ~3 months. In January, we added externally signed certificates to the CMC (required by parent organization). We updated the CMC to 5.00 and we tried (failed) to enable user authentication through active directory.

After each change, the system seemed to work properly. After a few days, the web interface is no longer accessible (no response) and there is no error message. Physically removing the active CMC does force the CMC controller to flip, but it doesn't restore the web interface.

The only way to restore the web interface is to SSH to the CMC and executing the command "RACRESET SOFT". Upon reset, the web interface works fine.

After another day or two, the web interface stops responding again.

The upgrade to 5.0.1 helped on one chassis, but it still happens once a week on the other.

I thought the issue might be tied to attempted failed logons, but it is not that consistent.

In the hardware and CMC log, I can't find anything clearly related to this. Started about that time, a regular series of 30 second losses in redundancy appears in the log. These might actually be the RACRESET instead of the cause.

Any assistance in how I can troubleshoot this will be greatly appreciated.

I have a server (r630)with an onboard intel X710 which is a converged adapter (2 copper and 2 sfp ports)

When I boot the server I only see the 2 copper nics and not the SFP connected nics.

When i check the BIOS they also do not show up only copper nics and an extra Intel 10 GB nic in the pci slot we added.

What am I missing here?

Dell Poweredge T410 memory upgrade

Hello everyone,

Lately I decided to upgrade my server's memory to 28GB.

I just tried to put it in my server and it gave me a warning that the memory configuration was not supported.

I started to search on the internet how to put the memory in and I can't find the answer so I hope you guys can help me out.

The memory I have is the following:

3 x 4GB 2R ECC Registered 1066MHz

2 x 8GB 2R ECC Registered 1066MHz

In this server I have installed 2 processors (Intel Xeon E5620)

So far I've found out that the memory configuration on both processors has to be identical so I decided to try again with 2 x 4GB and 2 x 8GB and did still not succeed.

I've tried multiple configurations but can't find one which works.

Does anyone know if it is possible what I'm trying to achieve and if so how to achieve it?

Thanks in advance,

Olivier Smet

Sorry if my English is a little poor but I'm from the Netherlands and just 15 years old.

Hello

I have a 4 blade VRTX with the SPERC 8, I used the driver from this link:

http://www.dell.com/support/home/us/en/19/Drivers/DriversDetails?driverId=0P5XV

I was looking to this doc:

http://partnerdirect.dell.com/sites/channel/en-us/documents/building_microsoft_windows_server_2012_clusters_on_dell%20_poweredge_vrtx.pdf

But they are referencing the old M620 server, I have the M630's... Is there any official guide for setting up the VRTX / M630 on Windows 2012 R2 for clusters?...

Any help would be greatly appreciated...

Broken USC for R310

$

Main Problem

I have a PowerEdge R310 with only the BMC (no DRAC). From within Windows, I updated the Unified Server Configurator (USC) to newer versions offered on Dell's support page.  When I reboot and try to enter USC, the USC fails to load.  Depending on the version of USC I try to use, either the USC freezes while loading or displays a message saying it failed to load.  I tried over 10 different versions from Dell's website (ranging from 1.3.0.15 to 1.6.5.12), and none of them work.

Main Question

Does anyone know of a working version of USC for an R310 with no DRAC?  I think the original working version that came with my system was something like version 1.3.x.y, but I'm not exactly sure.  Alternatively, is there something I could be doing wrong to cause USC to fail (even though the Windows updater says it was successfully written)?

Background

For some reason, Dell Online Diagnostics 2.30.0 gets stuck forever at 90% when performing a Disk Self Test on one of my HDDs (in Windows Server 2008 R2).  Therefore, I have to run the disk self-test from USC, which takes a long time and can't be performed remotely.  My original version of USC didn't support logging the results to a file on a modern drive (it was apparently made to log results to a floppy disk), so I decided to update the USC to see if a newer version could log the results to a USB flash drive or HDD.  This led me to the problem described above.

Secondary Question

Does anyone know why Dell Online Diagnostics for Windows would get stuck at 90% when performing a Disk Self Test when the test runs fine in USC?

C6100 server BSOD

I'm trying to track down why this server is experiencing blue screens.

I see the following errors in the event log:

Error Event ID 6008 "The previous system shutdown at 4:21:28 AM on 6/9/2015 was unexpected."

Critical Event ID 41 "The system has rebooted without cleanly shutting down first. This error could be caused if the system stopped responding, crashed, or lost power unexpectedly."

Error Event ID 1001 "The computer has rebooted from a bugcheck.  The bugcheck was: 0x00000124 (0x0000000000000000, 0xfffffa800a62e038, 0x0000000000000000, 0x0000000000000000). A dump was saved in: C:\Windows\Minidump\060915-24913-01.dmp. Report Id: 060915-24913-01."

Error Event ID 1500 "The SNMP Service encountered an error while accessing the registry key SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Services\SNMP\Parameters\TrapConfiguration."

Error Event ID 7026

"The following boot-start or system-start driver(s) failed to load:

ClusDisk"

Error Event ID 18

"A fatal hardware error has occurred.

Reported by component: Processor Core

Error Source: Machine Check Exception

Error Type: Internal Timer Error

Processor ID: 0

The details view of this entry contains further information."

If it helps, here's a couple of links to the dump files generated after the BSOD:

Here is a link to the dump file: https://onedrive.live.com/redir?resid=A4C0CA009AA14F65!109&authkey=!AImteEv0JAXxu_k&ithint=f...

Here's another dump file from when the BSOD occurred again 5 days later: https://onedrive.live.com/redir?resid=A4C0CA009AA14F65!110&authkey=!AP1c-iA94vV-i0k&ithint=f...

I've checked the web based "megarac" software to look for any error logs or any information on issues with voltages, temperatures or fan speeds and everything appears to be within normal levels, no BMC errors.

MegaRAID storage manager shows an optimal array.

I don't currently have a good monitoring solution for RAM, PSUs or CPUs. Still looking for one.

Can anyone here help point me in the right direction to figure out what's going on?
