There used to be a spot to download a live DVD that you could run on a server (for example a T320) that you would boot to and would then go through and update all the device firmware on the the machine. Anyone have a link to this? I must not be searching very well because I can't seem to find it anywhere. I got a few ESXi freebies I need to do some updates on.
Updating firmware
RAC Tool "Verification Failed"
I've installed the RAC tool on a Win8 workstation for use configuring four "new" R610 servers. The RAC tool discovers the iDRAC6s fine, but it won't verify the admin accounts.
The servers are currently on a small work group LAN so I've not configured AD or DNS, and haven't added accounts beyond the "root" account. So root is what i'm giving RAC as the administrator account. The iDRAC has been updated to the latest version (as well as the BIOS and LC). The Web UI works great.
Suggestions?

recommended downgrade procedure t320 2012 to 2008
Hello, I am looking for the quickest and easiest downgrade procedure from 2012 r2 standard to 2008 r2 on a t320. Is it via the .iso or media? I know there are .iso images of both OS's on the currently installed 2012 OS, but I am wondering if I try to downgrade to 2008 using the .iso's setup file if it will wipe both .iso's off the drive upon downgrade completion. I was hoping to avoid having to wipe the drive. Any help would be greatly appreciated. I need to get this done asap before I start copying files to the server due to fear that I would have to start all over if a drive wipe is needed. Thanks in advance
PE T110 ii + Windows Server 2012 R2 ?
I have been searching and searching for a way to install WS 2012 R2 STD. When I start installing it says media drivers are needed before continuing the installation. Does anyone have any idea how to actually install Windows Server 2012 R2? Any help would be greatly appreciated!

Dell R820 Power Supply firmware fail
I updated the firmware today on my R820 server, which I have done on several other Dell PE's of similar if not the same model. This time something odd happened. The whole unit powered off and wouldn't come back on. I left it there for quite a few minutes to see if it was just doing it's thing and would power itself back on. The front of the server had lost power completely. I couldn't get the power button to work or anything. Eventually, I had to pull the plugs and then plug it back in and I was able to fire it up again.
Well, now I get a power supply configuration error detected error on boot. If I look at OpenManage, it says that PS1 is fine, gives me the readings, etc. If I look at PS2, it says NA for everything except it says Presence Detected Configuration Error.
They were both working fine prior to this update, so I dont know what happened.
Any way to resolve this for the power supply in question?
Thanks.

Internal server ports on VRTX
I feel like I'm going to get a painfully obvious answer here, but how do I activate more ports for a blade server in a VRTX chassis?
Both my blades have 2 of 4 ports active. If i go into port config in the I/O module GUI, the other two ports show "down", but there are no options to bring them up.
This makes me think that each blade server would have a setting for how many of the internal NIC ports it uses, but I can't find such a setting anywhere in chassis management GUI.
What am I missing?
FX2 NICs showing 'disconnected'
we have some new FX2 chassis, with Dell PowerEdge FN 410S IOAs. we install windows on a couple of servers, and after installing the NIC drivers, they are appearing, but showing as 'disconnected'. we are unsure what step we have missed. there are 2 10G connections to each IOM in each FX2 (4 connections per chassis), destined for two separate VLANS. any suggestions would be appreciated.
thanks!

M630 DRAC
I have a bunch of M630 blades with DRAC8 in them. Ultimately I am trying to replace the self signed certificate with a internal signed certificate. I looked through the menu and can't find the option to replace the cert. I see on older DRACs that I can do this via SSH? If that is necessary how do I enable SSH on the DRAC? It doesn't seem responsive via TCP/22. Thanks.
CMC web interface access lost, requires RACRESET, inconsistent, but recurring
Under the CMC 4.5, we were able to reliably access CMC via the web interface for ~3 months. In January, we added externally signed certificates to the CMC (required by parent organization). We updated the CMC to 5.00 and we tried (failed) to enable user authentication through active directory.
After each change, the system seemed to work properly. After a few days, the web interface is no longer accessible (no response) and there is no error message. Physically removing the active CMC does force the CMC controller to flip, but it doesn't restore the web interface.
The only way to restore the web interface is to SSH to the CMC and executing the command "RACRESET SOFT". Upon reset, the web interface works fine.
After another day or two, the web interface stops responding again.
The upgrade to 5.0.1 helped on one chassis, but it still happens once a week on the other.
I thought the issue might be tied to attempted failed logons, but it is not that consistent.
In the hardware and CMC log, I can't find anything clearly related to this. Started about that time, a regular series of 30 second losses in redundancy appears in the log. These might actually be the RACRESET instead of the cause.
Any assistance in how I can troubleshoot this will be greatly appreciated.

Cannot connect to SNMP on M1000e CMC
Dear all,
I have a problem to use SNMP on some of my Dell M1000e CMCs. They should be all configured the same, but some don't respond to a simple snmpwalk attempt:
# snmpwalk -v 2c -c public mc-jux9
Timeout: No Response from mc-jux9
A colleague of mine suspected a connection with the latest CMC firmware update, but some machines running CMC 5.0 work fine while others don't.
PowerEdge T310 memory upgrade problems
Hi
Today I tried to upgrade the RAM of a T310 server (one X3440 processor) using 4x8Gb memory modules
The mainboard has 6 slots in a row. (The 1st and the 4th slot have white clips).
So, I've installed 2 dimms on the 1st and 2nd slot, and the other 2 ones on the 4th and 5th slot (starting from the top)
When i boot up the server, the lcd on the front, shows the following message "Temp: unavailable" (I think there's more on that message but it stucks there), the fan works on 100% and nothing happens. No screen, no "beeps", no leds on keyboard or mouse, nothing.
I've upgrade BIOS to 1.11.0 but the problem stil remains.
Can you please help me?
Thank you in advance
CMC Failover causes excessive CPU Load
We have multiple m1000e Chassis units in our datacenter, and they are all full of M610 units. We have now had multiple instances where for some reason, the primary CMC Heartbeat is lost, triggering a CMC failover event. As soon as the second CMC fails over, many of the M610s in that chassis suddenly spike up in CPU usage and become nearly unresponsive. Once we fail back over to the primary CMC, they calm back down.
We have verified that all power settings are correct and that the CMC firmwares are the same version. The M610s are all running RHEL 6.
Has anyone else had this happen? Is there an update/patch somewhere that resolves this? We've gone so far in one chassis as to pull the redundant CMC out and run on one until we can figure out the fix.
Change OS from Serv2003r2 to Win7 on PwereEdge t110
Is it possible to install Windows 7 on a PowerEdge T110 that was running Server2003r2?
PE2970 Firmware - No DVD, No USB
I'm trapped in a catch 22, so will try a plea here.
Older PE2970 with older BIOS and CDROM only. Trying to install Windows 2012. Can't install from DVD, can't get a Win2012 image on bootable CDROM; can't install from USB, because older BIOS doesn't provide the USB-boot options others have suggested; can't upgrade the BIOS because all of these tools like SBUU/SUU require DVD; can't use the OS-dependent firmware update tools, because system has no OS.
So, ok, just go back to Win2003 CDs to get an OS installed, from which I can run tools to update BIOS, after which I should be able to make the system USB-bootable, and thus install Win2012. Problem is that the Win2003 CD won't install as it doesn't recognize the hard drives, whether I leave as a PERC RAID volume, or remove volume and have bare phyical disks only.
Am I missing something? How can I get a CD-bootable, non-OS-dependent tool that will allow me to update the BIOS, so that I can then boot from USB and get an OS installed?
TIA
Perc 6/i Detecting but Not Adding New Drive to Mirror
hi all,
i have a really annoying issue.. with replacing a disc in a PE 1950 - Raid 1 formation
previously i have simply pulled 1 drive, slapped in another, which has fired off the automated raid rebuild onto the new drive, end of problem, but this time.. im putting larger replacement drives in, as i have done previously with another PE1950, but the mirror will not rebuild.. as it will not add the drive to the raid.

please tell me what am i missing..
for the life of me i cant see why the *** thing isn't being picked up, please point out what im missing..
