Hi,

i have m1000e enclosure with 16 m610 servers installed,

one of the servers halted a gave a blue screen, the CMC web interface gives A runtime critical stop occurred.  warning in the health and performance section.

the blade server it self is blinking in orange light

the server iDRAC event log gives the same error.

i rebooted the server and it works fine but it still blinking and the CMC interface still give a health error and turns the server to red with big X on it.

how to remove this warning from the CMC?

is that means that the server still have a problem, if so how could i know the exact problem with server.

Thank you in advance

Best practices for SSD + RAID?

What should the parity size be when running 2x Samsung 850 Pro SSDs connected to an H710P in a PE R720xd in a RAID 1 array?

Not finding much relevant information online for this..

Is there a white paper for this? something that would tell me the optimal settings when running SSDs on the PERC H710(p) --Essentially all configurable settings when creating a DG/VD.

R720 Intel Gigabit 4P I350-t Adapter Firmware Update

Hi,

I have recently upgraded all of the firmware on my R720 to the latest versions using the Lifecycle controller. All worked well except for the PSU and Intel Gigabit 4P I350-t Adapter. After resetting the iDRAC I was able to update the PSU but was still struggling with the NIC.

I thought that I would try to update it in stages. I successfully went from 13.0.0 to 13.5.6 then I tried to go from 13.5.6 to 14.5.8. This failed during the update with the messages:

SUP0517: Unable to update the i350 QP 1G ADAPTER firmware to version 14.5.8.

I have done a reset of the iDRAC and performed a cold boot but the iDRAC is not able to detect the NIC. I have looked in the BIOS and it sees the NIC but it thinks that it has no Firmware.

Looks like I have bricked it.

Any help would be appreciated.

iDRAC Active Directory Integration

Hello,

I have recently been trying to integrate all of our DRACs here with Active Directory to allow for login that way, rather than a generic username and password shared by multiple employees. I have downloaded the Dell Remote Access Configuration Tool and it works amazingly. It is able to set the correct settings for multiple DRACs to allow AD users to sign on all at once.

However, there is one slight issue that I cannot seem to figure out. On 11 DRACs of the ~50 I have configured this way, credentials fail. I thought perhaps I was just fat-fingering the keys, but after having multiple people try out both the nonworking and working DRACs, there seems to be a problem with how these 11 were configured.

I did each configuration run in groups of 10 roughly, and in each  group there were 1 or 2 that just didn't get to working properly. After compiling a list of the 11 that did not work correctly, I even tried to run them through configuration again, to no avail. And by looking at the information provided to me, there is nothing to differentiate these from the other ~40 that were successful. There are both iDRAC6s and iDRAC7s, and there are several different firmware versions. Basically what I am trying to say is that if I have a DRAC of one type in the 11 that don't work, there is one of the same type, firmware version, and model in the ~40 that do work. So I cannot seem to discern the problem.

Hopefully this is enough information to get someone started on helping to solve my problem. If anyone has any questions or suggestions, I would greatly appreciate hearing from you.

Thanks,

Jacob

I have a similar issue.

several Dell R720xd servers with a Gigabit 4P I350-t Adapter, and i can't get the firmware updated to 16.5.20

I am using the latest SUU dvd, from witin the lifecycle controller. The error message in the lifecycle controller is:

Any suggestions on how to get the firmware updated? The servers have ESXi6 as OS.

iDrac remote session ip log

Hello,

I wanted to check something that is a potential security issue for me.

When I connect to iDrac on my PowerEdge R620 (Version 7.4.0), is there any log kept (either on the iDrac card or on the system itself) of the source ip address used to remote access the server.

What I want to avoid is a situation where someone has managed to hack into the server, and can then find their way back to me via the static ip address I last connected to iDrac with.

Thanks in advance.

"weak ephemeral diffie-hellman key" error in FF39 prevents OMSA from being accessible

In Firefox version 39, some OMSA web site would give this error message:

An error occurred during a connection to <server>:1311. SSL received a weak ephemeral Diffie-Hellman key in Server Key Exchange handshake message. (Error code: ssl_error_weak_server_ephemeral_dh_key)

I suppose I need to reinstall new version of OMSA, or is it?  I haven't checked yet.  Does new version exist yet?  And is there some "fast and dirty" workaround because it would take me quite some time to update all my OMSA.

Thanks

OMSA 8.1 HTTPS LISTENER

I have OMSA 8.1 installed on Windows Server 2012 R2. The prereqs check comes up with a warning:

The installer has detected that the HTTPS listener is not configured for Windows Remote Management. You can either configure the HTTPS listener before installing Remote Enablement, or install Remote Enablement now by selecting the "Custom" installation screen and configure the HTTPS listener later. See the "Remote Enablement Requirements" section in the Server Administrator Installation Guide for information on configuring the HTTPS listener. Note: Remote Enablement is required to manage this system from a remote Server Administrator Web Server and is applicable only for those systems that support Server Instrumentation. Click here to configure HTTPS Listener for Windows Remote Management.

OMSA installs fine, but I can't connect to the web GUI afterwards though I verified all the services are online.

I've tried adding a self-signed certificate with the host name but this doesn't help. Is the OMSA 8.1 installer bunk on 2012R2 or did I miss something from the install guide?

Cannot get 16 GB of RAM to work

We have a Dell PowerEdge 1900 Version 2 server.  We are trying to install 16GB of RAM in the machine. We installed 2 GB sticks in the 8 slots but the machine is picking up the primary slots and not the secondary ones.

We are running Windows Server 2012 R2 on machine.  It is a 64 bit OS.

The memory came with the following tag on it

Arch Memory

2GB 667MHz FB SW 05282015

Suggestions would be helpful.  Been <ADMIN NOTE: Substitute character removed as per TOU> around with this for majority of the day.

Power Supplies status showing ! in iDRAC6 Enterprise frontpage after iDRAC updated to 1.99 (Build 06)

$

We need to update the firmware of the H700 mini RAID controller firmware in a R710.  We encountered the issue discussed in en.community.dell.com/.../19475476

We followed the steps above and updated both the iDRAC6 Enterprise to 1.99 (Build 06) and LifeCycle Controller to 1.7.5.  However, the frontpage of the iDRAC6 shown the Power Supplies status from green tick to yellow exclamation mark!

We click on the Power Supplies link and the page showing the Power Supplies status, under "Individual Power Supply Elements" that the PS1 has green tick in the Status.  There is only 1 power supply for this server.  More info as below (there is a green tick in the Status field in the webpage).

StatusLocationTypeInput WattageMax WattageOnline StatusFW Version
  PS 1AC1080870Present08.13.00

My colleague told me that a field engineer visited about a year ago when he fixed another R710 in our office, told us that it is a known issue for the new (at that time) iDRAC6 version.  So he downgraded the iDRAC6 back to 1.80 (Build 17) and LifeCycle Controller back to 1.5.1.57 after replaced the failed hardware and updated all firmware & BIOS to current (at that time also).

Meanwhile, we suspect it was the firmware of the Power Supply and looking for any update.  However, we can't even locate the 870W power supply in the driver download page, which shown only "Coldwatt 570W PSU (PN: VPR1M) Fimrware Package".  The 870W power supply was ordered along with the new R710 from a local Dell reseller in Hong Kong and that should be authentic.

The system actually run fine but with that yellow exclamation mark is misunderstanding and causing false alarm to us.  Is anyone know how to resolve that?  Notice the R710 was out of warranty and I bet the phone support staff won't give us a hand.

Difficulty Installing Windows 2012 SRVR R2 on VRTX 630 blade

I am trying to install Windows SRVR 2012 R2 on a new VRTX. The chasis currently is configued with 2 M630 blades. I configured the blade RAID using the Lifecycle controller. I use the Lifecycle controller for OS deployment. It reads from the DVD and starts copying files. It crashes towards the end of loading files from the DVD at the file \windows\system32\boot\winload.exe with status 0xc0000001. The VRTX is new out of the box. The CMC and shared storage have been set up. I get the same error on both blades. I have confirmed that the DVD works to boot another server. I have tried an external DVD drive plugged in through the USB on the VRTX, and I get the same error when installing the OS. Any suggestions?

We have PowerEdge R720. It turns itself off after 1-2 hours.  Such as writing messages on the screen error code : PSU0003. When we open it again it repeats all. Re-starting, closing again. When I restart the power supply by plugging it continues to dismantle the same problem. Thanks for help.
