2950 lost data

$

Hello together,

after a powerdown the server does not boot any more. I discovered that the raid 1 (2 harddsiks - OS installed) and the raid 5 (3 harddisk) are in good conditions (raids are up and without any errors) but the data are lost. I see the raids (virtual disks) with a Win10PE SE. In the partition manager I see unallocated space in each virtual disk.

How could I recover the data from the raid 1 and raid 5?

Thanks

Goof

Poweredge T420 network writes are extremely slow

I have a PowerEdge T420 that has issues with network write performance.

I am using LAN_speed utility to test writing a 20MB block of data from the PE T420 to a Synology DS415+ NAS.

The test shows write speeds of 10-22 MB but read speed is 485 MB.

When I test from other PCs on the network to the Synology NAS I get much better speed, so I ruled out the network switch and router.

The backupexec job runs at 14 MB takes forever to do a backup.

When I reboot the server all is fine for a while the lanspeed test are blazing fast and the backup speed is at 2300+ MB (2.3 Gbps) and holds steady for about 20-25 mins into the backup but then gradually you can see the speed of the backup slowing down by sometimes 1 to 10 MB until it gets down to around 13 -14 MB and stays there, read speed on verify are fine around 14. Gbps. Strange thing is all works well when server is rebooted but slow the write speed decreases

Win 2011 SBS Netgear FVS336G v2 vpn router Netgear GS 748T switch Broadcom NetXtrene Gigabit Ethernet Broadcom 9-4-12 15.4.0.17

Any ideas on troubleshooting would be appreciated.

Dell PowerEdge 2420 Rack question

Sorry the rack forum seems to be offline.

I bought a used 2420 rack for home. I notice in the documentation which I found online for the rack there are rack clips (as dell calls them) for the back of rack to allow you to do cable management. If you haven't seen them they go into area were the PDU's sit.

I have looked on line for these clips but can't find anything related to them. I wonder if anyone else had had any luck at finding them or getting a part number or something they could share?

Thanks,

Andrew

CBL0004, CBL0009 on R730xd

I recently bought a Dell PowerEdge R730xd without hardware RAID card. As I went through the documentation, this server could work with the internal software RAID. Then here is my question, how should I connect the cables to let my hard drives be recognised by this server? and what other configurations do I need to do?

I'm connecting them like this but it seems not be working.

Optical Drive Face Plate for the PowerEdge T20

Hello:

Our PowerEdge T20 that was purchased the later half of August 2016 came with the DVD ReWritable drive and to maximize the on board hard drive storage, we are planning to remove the optical drive but notice that there will be a hole at the top of the case.

We've looked over the interior of the T20's case and do not see the face plate nor in the shipping box and need to know how to if there is an area that we overlook and if it was not included, how to obtain it.

Degraded RAID 1

Hi

I need to replace a SATA drive tomorrow on our T410 with PERC S300 software Raid - just wanted to see if I could get the suggested steps.  Its my understanding that I will replace the drive (in this case 0-00) and then boot the Server - then I will use Open Manage to do the remaining steps.  Can someone step me through that part.  I will attach pictures on the Controller info on Bootup - it shows the 0-00 drive marked as a Spare - but we have had issues with it before - so I want to replace it.

Thanks

DELL PowerEdge C6220 fan controller firmware update stuck on validating

Hello,

I have tried several firmware update versions to begin with - 1.12, 1.19, 1.24, 1.25

What do you I do?

1. Netboot over dhcp  a freedos memstick with copied firmware files inside

2. cd kcsflash

2.1 cd dos

2.2 ffcb.bat

Now this bat invokes the .bin for the respective firmware update. For example:

kcsflash fcb ..\..\X60112.bin

No matter what version of the firmware I try, it always gets stuck at

Any ideas on what I'm doing wrong? Do you have any howto's on upgrading the fc firmware.

Poweredge R210

Hello all

I have two poweredge r210 (not version II) and i have added two Samsung Pro SSD's in place of the original mechanical drive. I used SATA cables to bypass the PERC controller, because I don't believe that is compatible with SSD's or upgrading to WinServer 2012. I pulled out (what I think is) the PERC controller, but on boot up, information about the PERC S100-S300 and CTRL-R to configure it.

Is this normal?

Thanks

R510 Overheating issue let me explain

Hey!

I have 10 R510's mounted in a 42U rack, I also have several R710 racks that are doing great :)  However an issue I JUST noticed with the R510 Server rack is the back of it the computer surfaces are about 130 degrees nothing like my R710 racks and I think this is way to hot!!!  I cannot find a single post (excpet one on here that was not answered) as to the solution, I have made sure the firmware is up to date.. Running SLES 11 SP 1 on them I don't think that matters...  The BIOS not sure this second but has ANYONE seen this before?  I have gone into the BIOS and made the only change I can see to the FANS to MAXIMUM PERFORMANCE, other then that I am stumped..

If anyone can shed some light would be MUCH MUCH appreciated :) :) :)

Hi,

I know the CS24-NV7 is a DCS and is not technically supported but I have one that I am intending to run as my home lab.  I have everything installed but I am unable to get a good driver for 2012 R2 for the NIC.  Anyone have a good link to where I can find a driver that will work with Windows on this hardware?  TIA

I put intel p3500 ssd to my t430 system and fan speed rised up to 85%. Idrac lifecycle controler log shows that system detects ssd as normal, but still ramps up fan speed to 85%. So maybe there is some kind of system bug? Turning off third party PCie card fan respnse did no help

I am trying to install Windows 2012 R2 on PowerEdge R520 server, but boot from USB is not working. I have copied OS software and made as bootable USB ( with Windows 7 boot utility) and tested on 64 bit another DELL workstation successfully ( started loading files once i rebooted workstation). However when i tried same USB, the server is not booting from USB  to install OS. ( Selected UEFI boot method).

Any help to resolve this issue is much appreciated.

Is it possible to run the motherboard RAID and controller card RAID at the same time?

$

Hi This is what I was trying to do: We took a bare bones Dell PowerEdge T20 with 4 SATA ports and added a 2 port SATA controller card (AS media ASM1061R SATA III host controller) so that we could:
1. Create a mirrored SSD drive attached to the card
2. Leave the DVD attached to one of the four motherboard SATA interfaces
3. Attach 3 2TB SATA HDs to the other three interfaces
We set up the mirrored drives through the card BIOS program and then installed Windows Server 2012r2 successfully on the mirrored drives
We then set up RAID5 on the motherboard RAID configuration BIOS program seemingly successfully
Now the Dell motherboard can't see the other drives.  We can't put them in the boot order and of course we're getting Non-system disk error.
Are we trying to do the impossible (with this motherboard?)  Or do we need to get a different (and probably more expensive) controller card?
Any insights will be humbly appreciated.

The server displays this message when the power supply gets down.

T620 lights remain on after power off

I have a T620 at home, usually switched off at night. It's running Windows 2012 R2.

Occasionally, after the server has been shut down, the lights remain on - the LED panel on the front and the blue light on the back (they're both extremely bright).

Is there a known problem here? How do I ensure the lights go off at power down? I'm pretty certain the server itself is not running.

Dell Poweredge R310 Will not boot past Dell Perc H200 Initialization

$

Hi,

I am getting a notification message from Dell Perc H200 initialization which states:

Integrated RAID Exception Detected

Volume (Hd1:078) is currently in state DEGRADED

Enter the Dell PERC h200/hba configuration to investigate.

Initializaing...:evices at HBA 0... (Not showing the "D" in the message)

This goes on for over an hour, and eventually a message appears to press CTRL + C although once pressed it does not open the configuration.

I am not sure if anything is happening in the background while this message appears on the screen.

Pressing F2 or F11 also wants the initialization to complete.

Please help.
