I have a T620 with one Perc H310 connected to the backplane.

In the iDrac when I go to storage I get the following error:

RAC0501: There are no physical disks to be displayed. 1. Check if the host system is powered off or shutdown. 2. Check if the physical disks are inserted into the enclosure or attached to the backplane. 3. There are no out-of-band capable controllers detected.

Also when I go to Physical Disk, Virtual Disk or Controller I get

RAC0503: There are no out-of-band capable controllers to be displayed. Check if the host system is powered off or shutdown.

I tried resetting the drac using the command and powering down, still get the same.

is this normal

Dell server configuration web page not working properly

Recently the web page where we configure and customize Dell PowerEdge servers is not working properly, it takes forever to render any change in selections, and often time after spending too much time trying to finish a configuration it bombs at the end and all is lost.

And yes this happen with all browsers.

Talking with our reps, they acknowledge the issue but nobody at Dell seem to care.

Any more info or thoughts on this?

Thank you

PowerEdge 310 HDD swap using Bare Metal Recovery

I have a bare metal backup saved on an internal HDD, External, HDD, and flash drive and am trying to restore to a new dissimilar HDD. 1TB seagate to a 500GB WD. When I boot into windows setup and press repair to do a full system repair, the backup is not listed in any of the 3 locations. I am only really given an option to install drivers. From reading different forums, they point to the PERC110 drivers, but after installing these, nothing changed. Any ideas?

Hello! I am pretty new to severs and i just got a poweredge r710. I am running multiple programs but when i do the cpu temps go to around 70-72 which i dont like. If i take the cover off the fans start blasting full and cools them down but i dont want the cover off because it can damage the server. Is there a way to make them go full speed with the cover on?

T430 vs T330

I'm about to purchase a small server to host Quickbooks and SQL express running Win2012r2 Essentials for a custom POS application in a small business office.  All things being equal (cpu/memory/raid/disk/etc) - any reason to go with the T330 over the T430?  Actually the CPU is different, E3-1220 (T330) vs E5-2603 (T430). Price wise they're about the same.  Want to make sure I'm not missing any advantages with the T330 by going with the T430.  Thanks

Cable for Full sized PCI-E raid controller on R720

Hi,

I need to add a full sized PCI-E H710P controller to a poweredge R720 that is currently cabled to use a monolithic)mini) controller. I believe all I need to know is the part number for the cable that goes from the backplane directly to the raid controller. This is the 8x3.5" R720 (NON-XD) chassis. The only information I can find in manuals is related to using the monolithic/onboard RAID. How do you cable a regular PCI E SAS card to the backplane?

Random Reboot R740

Hello,

We currently have a Windows server 2016 Datacenter server failover cluster with two PowerEdge R740 nodes.

The hardware configuration of each node is as follows:
2x Intel (R) Xeon (R) Silver 4116 CPU @ 2.10GHz Model 85 Stepping 4
RAM 196608 MB
Nvidia Tesla M60 Video Card
SAS connection with a PowerVault® 3420 SAN

Video cards are used in Discrete Device Assignment by virtual machines

We encounter a problem of brutal random reboot of nodes without error message in logs other than an event id 41 Kernel-Power "The system has rebooted without cleanly shutting down first".

EventData
BugcheckCode 0
BugcheckParameter1 0x0
BugcheckParameter2 0x0
BugcheckParameter3 0x0
BugcheckParameter4 0x0
SleepInProgress 0
PowerButtonTimestamp 0
BootAppStatus 0
Checkpoint 0
ConnectedStandbyInProgress false
SystemSleepTransitionsToOn 0
CsEntryScenarioInstanceId 0

The reboot of the nodes is not simultaneous and occurs in a totally random way.

We have no errors in hardware testing and no explicit events in Open Manage.

Do you have any idea what caused this problem ?

Best Regards

We have purchased Dell PowerEdge R730xd  servers. After the installation we can see the Healthy (OEM Partition) with OS drive on One Server and on Other Server the partition with name Healthy (Recovery Partition).

Is Healthy (Recovery Partition) and Healthy (OEM Partition)  have some used and purpose?

If they are different from each other and have different purpose then on what paramets system decide to create whether Healthy (Recovery Partition) and Healthy (OEM Partition) ?

Failed Redundancy on RAID 1

Hello,

I have a poweredge R210 server with RAID1 implemented and I am seeing the following error in the event logs

The device, \Device\Ide\IdePort3, did not respond within the timeout period.

In Disk management, I can see that is shows failed redundancy and a foreign disk 0 listed now.  I have purchased a new drive to replace it but just want to see how to determine which one is the failed disk on IDEPort3 in order to replace? These are cabled hard drives

Also, once I have identified this disk, do I just need to backup, power down, replace drive and power back up or is there a better method to follow?

POWER EDGE 2900

Good afternoon , could you support us in the following issue?

We have PE2900 , it was woking fine some months ago   then  it was sent to us by airplane  , after receiving it  we turned  it on  and we could see the fans were on and LCD turn it on also , we did not have any signal from keyboard , the keyboard does not turn on the leds and it did not work then  we try with another keyboard and  the same result , both of them did not work . Both of them works  properly when they are used in another computer . Also we did the test using all the usb port ( 5 usb ports )

Also we did not see any information from monitor  eventhough the monitor is working properly  when we use in another computer. The monitor led show green at the begining then change to amber , also nothing is showed in monitor.

We have two hard drivers and RAID CARD , Raid card showes   blinking green  led but the hard drives when we boot  we did not see any light blink in this process I mean at the begining of the  boot neither in the booting process.

Also the LCD showes the following message E1410 , CPU1 or CPU2, also we open the computer and it looks fine , also we  take the NIC out , disconnect and connect the cables from RAID to the proper bay connector but the same result ,

Akso we tred  to boot from a booteable Acronis CD   ( CD drive works properly ) but the same result

The DIMMs look fine  but we did not take them out from their slots

Internally the Server looks fine ,

Do you think it could be good idea to take ( NIC , Raid Card , all DIMMs ) out and to try to boot to see if something else happens or

Do you have any additional ideas to try to see if we could fix it , or could be it a motherboard problem or any hit  during the travel in shipping which it could harm the server

Thanks for your support

Ricardo

iDrac Redfish JSON for Drive Serial Number

Howdy!

FNG here! ;-)

Trying to get Drive SerialNumber from a NonRaid Controller slot, as seen in this redfish schema:

I've used iDrac /v1/Systems/System.Embedded.1/Storage/Controllers/NonRAID.Slot.2-1 and shows attached drives to that specific controller. Now I need the drives SerialNumber, but cannot find an iDRAC Redfish call to give that data....

Any ideas? Or is it just too painfully obvious, that answering me would embarrass me? ;-)

Thanks!!!

John

T610 reboot hangs on iDRAC error

$

I have a T610 which has recently started hanging on reboot with the following error:

iDrac6 Communication Failuree

Alert!  iDrac6 Error...  Rebooting

After a pause it automatically reboots, and the second time hangs with the message:

Alert! iDRAC6 not responding. Power required may exceed PSU wattage.

Alert! Continuing system boot accepts risk that system may power down without warning.

Strike the F1 key to continue, F2 to run the system setup program.

I have never made use of the iDRAC, or even configured it for use, and I could live without it if I could just get the server to boot without it. I went into the system setup but couldn't find anything about disabling the iDRAC, is it possible?

This server only has one power supply, is there a way to test it to see if it has gone bad, given the indication "power required may exceed PSU wattage." It has run OK for several years on that power supply, but now that I think about it, this started right after there was an issue with the power lines coming into the building, which may have damaged the power supply.

Any ideas?

Thanks,

Dave

Also, the system fans are running at full speed, (very loud) and reading some of the other posts on here about iDRAC issues, I understand the iDRAC also controls the fans?

Intel X550-T2 in PowerEdge R710

Hi! Does anyone know if a R710 can handle an Intel X550-T2 running at 10GB? We recently installed one in an R710 and can only get 1GB connection speeds out of it. Is anyone aware of any technincal limitations that might be preventing me from achieving 10GB?

VRTX Degraded Disk

This morning I noticed there was a disk in my VRTX that was blinking orange.  So, I removed it, and reinserted it.

It appeared to start rebuilding.  I however can find no log of this event in the VRTX CMC.

Furthermore, the CMC still reports the Virtual Disk as degraded, but the Physical Disk (Slot 11) as online.

Confused, is my CMC not working?

Hello ,

I am currently unable to monitoring the  Dell Hardware through our MSP portal.

Initially I installed Dell Open Manage as well as installing and configuring SNMP.

However when I run an snmpwalk.exe -r:localhost -p:161 -c:public >> snmpwalk.txt against the SnmpWalk tool,  I received a %Failed to get value of SNMP variable. Timeout. Error.

What can I do to fix it? it appears to be an issue getting the Windows SNMP service to talk to the DSM services? I

R900: Every replacement drive shows E1810 Fault error

$

I have an older R900 with a Perc 6/i controller with six 500gb SAS (Seagate ST9500430SS) drives configured in a RAID 5 array.  Recently Drive 0 failed so I replaced it with an identical drive.  The replacement drive showed up and after I inserted it I got the E1810 Fault error on the LCD display so I assumed that it was also defective.  I exchanged it with the seller and inserted a 2nd replacement.  Same E1810 error.  I booted into the controller utility and it showed that the drive is missing so I naturally assumed that I'm a victim of bad luck and received two faulty drives.  The vendor sent me a 3rd drive and it also shows the E1810 Fault error.

I cut my losses with that vendor and assumed they were selling junk drives so I bought a brand new drive from another vendor.  Popped the drive in, E1810 Fault error.

What is going on here?  I have never seen this behavior before.  Could the slot somehow be bad?  If so, can I keep all of my data and move the disk from slot 0 to slot 7?  I need to find a solution fast because the array is not configured with a hot spare.  Another failed disk means all of my data is gone.  Any suggestions other than wiping the config and starting over?

C2100 won't POST, blinking amber fault led

$

Hi all, suddenly, my C2100 won't post. I opened it up to take a look and troubleshoot. Upon pressing the power button, I see/hear the fans spin up, the hard drive tray LEDs go green, and then.... it seems to hang and the fault LED blinks amber. There is no signal sent to the monitor. The USB keyboard doesn't look like it's getting power either.

I swapped out both PSUs, reseated RAM sticks, jiggled/reseated all the cable connectors, even tried the jumper trick to clear the CMOS, all to no avail.

Anyone have ideas? Or suggestion how to totally reset everything?

Thanks
